1040 Documentary Screening…

1040 is an explosive documentary that focuses on the rapid changes in Asia and the significant shift of spiritual landscape in the area known as the “10/40 Window”- the regions between 10 degrees and 40 degrees North Latitude on the eastern hemisphere. My friend Jaeson Ma went on a  journey through the Asian countries in the window, showing the dramatic changes happening on the ground…

Jaeson & his team will be here in Austin on Thursday evening to host a screening on UT’s campus. I hope you will all join us if you are in the Austin area as we focus not only on expanding the kingdom in Austin, but the Nations. Click Here to go to the Facebook Event page for Austin and find all the details you need to know…Check out the 1040 Movie website (link above) for more information & the full story behind the movie. If you are not in the Austin area, but would like to host a screening in your own city CLICK HERE to get in contact with the 1040 movie team. The team will be finishing up their 9 city Spring Tour very soon, but I am fairly certain there will be many more opportunities in the near future. Check out the 1040 Movie trailer below…

Student Church National Gathering…

SCNG2101

Most of you know about the Student CPx Training Experiences that we, along with a couple other like-minded organizations, host in different parts of the world several times/year.

From the first Student CPx training we could sense God building some sort of “Spiritual Family” among students all over the country who are reaching unbelievers, and starting new faith communities in their context. We believe He is still doing so to this day.

The purpose of this gathering is to give people a chance to re-connect, share stories, & build family. In January 2010 the Student CPx National Leadership team will be hosting a Student Church Gathering. Here’s the details:

WHO SHOULD COME? Anyone who has been involved in your student church this semester at any level.  It will also benefit newcomers to your church.

WHY SHOULD YOU COME? To be refreshed in the Lord, reconnect with your
brothers and sisters and be encouraged to dream big.

WHEN? Jan 1-4, 2010

WHERE? St. Louis, MO

The application deadline is December 1, 2009. A $75 deposit is due to
complete your registration. The total cost for the conference is $175
(includes breakfast, lodging and conference fee). If you register after
December 1, 2009, it will be your responsibility to find your own housing.
Your conference fee will be $75.

Another Point of View…

IMG_0508

From Lauren, the student in Austin who desired to see a SCPx take place:

“I must say Student CPx Austin far surpassed my expectations. I always
hear people say, “If you’re vision seems possible to accomplish, then
you’re not dreaming big enough.” Real visions should be so extreme, so
ridiculous, so unlikely, that only God could do it. What happened at
CPx was so extreme, so ridiculous, and so unlikely, that looking back
I know it was all God who did it. I’m like, God I couldn’t even dream
that up if I tried.

So this is how I measure fruit- not by how powerful the worship was,
not by a number count of how many people came to Christ, nor by how
many people came to the training…. real fruit = personal
transformation. And that’s exactly what we saw.

Short memories pass through my mind of moments that are hard to think
about without crying. The tears that came from a simple prayer
breaking off generational curses. The intense freedom and joy that
released God’s children into dancing as two students got baptized, not
as a ceremony like the first time, but as a celebration. Guys, yes
guys, weeping at the effects of the church coming together in genuine
care, relationship, and fellowship; the profound contrast between
being used in order to advance someone’s ministry… and being
loved… in order to be loved. I remember Jesus baptizing some
students in ways that we couldn’t… with the Holy Spirit and with
fire. And the grateful response to being healed… by the One who’s
favorite activity is to heal every type of sickness and disease.
Students leaving with new outlooks on life, with testimonies bound to
be repeated, with a vision that chills the flesh, and a hunger that
cannot be satisfied. Three teams forming, one that will shake and
transform Joplin, Missouri, one that will fill TCU with God’s glory,
and one that will usher in the long-due revival at UT. And we will
never forget that night of prayer when we lingered in the presence of
Jesus together till our bodies demanded sleep. “His presence is life.
His absence is death.” We heard it from Brian, but we learned it from
experience.

I can’t handle the history. I just freak out. Two students named
Joshua and Caleb begin to pray and preach, longing for a move of God
they never saw with their eyes… but something was shifting the
spiritual realm. Simultaneously Lee Myers begins to bring the kingdom
of God to earth, walking in faith and healing the sick… before
disease attacks back and takes his life. God marks the students. And
then He calls forth fathers and mothers. They all begin to see the
vision that was in His eyes… all at the same time… and by destiny
they find each other and start the first Student CPx. One year later,
there are three Student CPx’s. And two of those who attended were the
first fruits of the first CPx. The story continues. The weave of divine
appointments continues to tangle, and the tree that started as a tiny
seed continues to grow, until soon all the birds of the air will find
shelter there. Sam Lee said at the first CPx, “If we were to witness
the glory of God’s plan, we would die.”
Just a glance into a fragment
of it, and I’m feeling sick. All I can say is, prepare the way of the
Lord.

There is nobody who can do what our Jesus just did. I can hear Kirk
Franklin calling…”Can I get a witness in the house?!”

Many of you are familiar with the Student CPx (Church Planter’s Experience) training that we, in partnership with several other organizations, host in different parts of the country. You may remember the “concentrated” version of SCPx we hosted in Vegas in January 09′. (More on what happened there HERE & HERE) Or, if you go way back with “aholydiscontent” you might remember me mentioning the first ever Student CPx training in Lawrence, Kansas last summer. You may have even watched powerful Baptism videos from these training experiences.

Either way, the Lord has been moving in the past year, and ordaining relationships that will hopefully lead to Student CPx trainings all over the country many times each year. The dream is that these training experiences would be led primarily by students who have gone through a previous SCPx.

That is exactly what has happened with the upcoming Student CPx in Austin. Lauren Nanson, a UT student who has gone through SCPx, had a vision to see this type of training experience brought to Austin. Many of you in the Austin area have already been pursuing this movement, and have been training students to start campus churches; we are BLESSED to partner with you in the city, and grateful to the many of you who have committed to being a part of making this happen!

I hope you will all check out the information about Student CPx, and consider being a part of this experience. If you know anyone who might benefit from SCPx please send them our way, or to the website for info/reg. If you are closer to Kansas then we encourage you to register for the SCPx in Lawrence, Kansas, which is taking place July 19-31.

Laying the Foundation…

We kicked off Student CPx last night. A lot has happened since then. We have also been trying to capture everything on video. It’s been difficult as there are many tracks going on simultaneously. I will most certainly post and share what we have once things calm down and I get a chance to edit. I promise you will eat this stuff up. Here are some highlights I shared last night to lay a foundation for the weekend:

1) Release from a performance mindset – “We don’t perform to earn God’s approval, we respond and obey because we already have His approval.”

2) We believe that the Lord is bringing together a marriage of the Apostolic and the Prophetic. We need one another. The Apostolic need to learn to slow down and pray. The prophetic need to get out of the prayer room and DO IT. The Lord is marrying the two so we can help, and learn from one another.

3) I received a prophetic word from the Lord that we will see 10 new communities of faith birthed in Las Vegas over the next year. Partially as a result of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit over Las Vegas during CPx.

4) THE GREAT COMMISSION: As a filter that we run everything through not only this weekend but when we go home. There’s an interesting order…”I have given you authority”….”GO MAKE DISCIPLES”…”I am with you always”. The command is to go make disciples because we have authority and power in the Holy Spirit that lives within us. Everything must START here. The GC does NOT say to plant churches (“simple” or…NOT simple))…it does not command to start prayer rooms, or ministries, or programs. It simply says to go and MAKE DISCIPLES. I submitted to the students that if we start there that ALL Of that other stuff will naturally fall into place as a result of a life transformed by the Gospel.

5) CPx is not about us as individuals. This is not the next cool, hip, Christian thing to do. It’s not even about us AT ALL. It’s about the kingdom. We have it backwards. We get distracted thinking that it’s about us, OUR walk with God, OUR simple church, OUR ministry, OUR quiet time, etc. WOW.

“The enemy has taken this beautiful faith that tells us to DIE to ourselves, take up our crosses and follow Jesus (Great Commission), tricked us and SEDUCED us into thinking that at the end of the day it’s STILL ABOUT US!?”

It’s NOT about us! I challenged the students that if they came to CPx wanting to recieve something to shift their mindset to one of “what do I have to offer/give to this movement of the Spirit, while trusting that God will naturally meet all my needs along the way as I go and obey this pursuit of the kingdom.”

6) We are attempting to create a sense of Spiritual Family among those with a vision to make disciples in order to see the great commission fulfilled, and new communities of faith birthed.

-Along with that we are attempting to raise up Spiritual Fathers and Mothers to mentor young people as they pursue these visions that do not seem to be extremely popular among many of our current Christian leaders.

7) You are not here to learn from experts who have it all figured out. You ALL bring something unique and different to the table that we all have to learn from. Everyone must posture their heart as a student and a teacher this weekend.

I’d love to hear any thoughts or feedback you may have. More to come…the weekend has been incredible, and the students empowered. It’s not over yet…

Stay Tuned…

As many of you know Intentional Gatherings Vegas will be hosting a training on UNLV’s campus called “Student CPx”. Some of you will be joining us from as far away as Boston, and even Asia! I wanted to let those of you who will not be attending know that I will do my best to be posting little snippets of stuff throughout the weekend from the training.

The purpose of this weekend is not to gather a bunch of people together so we can all “have our fancies tickled”, learn from “the experts”, and go home all puffed up only to have it result in very little action. Our (All Nations, I.G., CCN, Student Church Movements) desire for Student CPx is to create a nationwide sense of Spiritual Family among like-minded people who are pursuing the multiplication of disciples. Therefore, resulting in new communities of faith being birthed, with hopes of a real life Church Planting Movement in America. None of us have it figured out, but we all have different experiences to share as we have pursued this vision from the Lord. Many of you have heard from the Lord to pursue this vision, and desire become better equipped. We hope that everyone returning from Student CPx over the summer, and everyone who is new will leave more equipped, empowered, and affirmed to move forward with confidence in their calling to make disciples.

I hope that those of you who will not be in Vegas this weekend will be blessed by some of the things I will share, and continue to be blessed as more information/videos/stories/pictures are posted from the weekend. Stay Tuned…
